Polydepsipeptide Block Stabilized Polyplexes For Efficient Transfection of Primary Human Cells

Degradable block copolymers have shown great potential to combine transfection capability with low toxicity of the transfection agent. Depsipeptide blocks exhibiting strong physical interactions were conjugated with PEI moieties to di and triblock copolymers. Upon nanoparticle formation and complexation with DNA, the resulting polyplexes (sizes typically 60-150 nm) showed remarkable stability compared to PEIonly or lipoplex, and facilitated efficient gene delivery. These nanocarriers form the basis for a delivery platform-technology especially for gene transfer to primary human cells. more

Non-continuously Responding Polymeric Actuators

Current polymeric actuators move because of their continuous response to the input signals of the controlling unit and cannot be interrupted without stopping or eliminating the input trigger. The new type of non-continuously responding actuator materials are capable of pausing their movements in a defined manner upon continuous cyclic heating and cooling. more
